From 55 Storefronts to One System: What Multi-Entity Retailers Can Learn from NatureCan
Fifty-five Shopify stores is not one problem. It is fifty-five places for inventory, orders, and revenue to drift out of sync.
NatureCan, a global wellness brand, ran 55+ Shopify stores across five separate companies. Inventory management, accounting visibility, and operational efficiency were the challenges. TekGenio implemented Odoo ERP to centralize operations, integrate Shopify, set up a multi-company environment and optimize warehouse management.
You may not run 55 stores. But if you run more than one brand, entity, or warehouse, the same lessons apply.
Lesson 1: Decide where the truth lives
Shopify is built to sell. It is not built to be the record of inventory and accounting for several companies. Decide early that the ERP is the record and the stores are channels. Everything else gets easier after that.
Lesson 2: Design multi-company accounting up front
Five companies means five sets of books that still need one combined view. Retrofitting that later is slow and expensive. Set up the company structure before you connect the stores.
Lesson 3: Treat inventory as a network, not a number
Each warehouse and each channel has its own stock position, and you also need one combined view. Without real-time sync, stock mismatches and overselling are common. IHL Group estimates inventory distortion, the combined cost of stockouts and overstocks, at $1.77 trillion globally.
Lesson 4: Clean the data before you connect it
Product names, SKUs, tax rules, and customer records differ between stores. Connecting messy data just spreads the mess faster. Standardize first, then integrate.
Our data management services exist for exactly this step.
Lesson 5: Report what leadership actually needs
Combined revenue across companies, stock by location, and reorder points. If a report needs three exports and a spreadsheet, the setup is not finished.
Is this you?
This applies to multi-brand and multi-region sellers, brands expanding from online into physical stores, and any business whose stores and warehouses are growing faster than its systems.
